Our commercial release of a portable 1 Watt 2.94µm continuous-wave laser module has opened doors to new applications in various industries previously not deemed possible.  Most commercially-available lasers at this wavelength are based on flashlamp pumping which results in a pulsed output.  In contrast, we have developed the technology to pump with diode lasers and achieve high output powers that are CW, or continuous-wave, which means that the laser never turns off.  This presents new opportunities in fields as far reaching as art restoration, cosmetic surgery, atmospheric sensing, and epoxy curing, with many more applications yet to be discovered.
